Moreover, speculators need to create premonition, positive vision, drive and determination (BAKER, and NOFSINGER, 2010: p23). Financial specialists shift in all highlights because of components, for example, segment factors, which involve instructive accomplishment level, financial foundation, sex, age, and race. The most basic obstacle looked by financial specialists is in the district of venture decisions. The most good venture choice is an indispensable thought and ought to be proactive in nature. During the plan of the venture portfolio, of key thought ought to be their money related targets, the degree of hazard resistance, just as different limitations. Besides, they need to gauge the item mean-difference improvement. This methodology is best proper for institutional financ ial specialists, and as a general rule falls flat for individuals, who are helpless against social bias. In the present conditions, social money is progressively accomplishing a basic situation in the dynamic methodology, since it progressively influences the exhibition of financial specialists (SHEFRIN, 2007: p77). Speculators can better their presentation by recognizing mistakes and predispositions of judgment, which are basic to each person. Appreciating the conduct fund will assume an essential job in empowering the financial specialists to embrace a superior speculation instrument and dodge future redundancy of expensive mistakes. The significant issues of this insightful examination are the means by which to diminish or nullify the mental biases in venture choice system. As indicated by the regular monetary hypothesis, producers of choices are sensible. In actuality, present day hypotheses recommend that the dynamic did by speculators are not moved by due consultations (POMPIA N, 2012: p45). The choices did by the speculators are likewise every now and again conflicting. At the end of the day, choices made by people are inclined to various intellectual figments. They are sorted into two kinds heuristic choice procedure and procedure hypothesis. Heuristic choice hypothesis is a choice standard through which the financial specialists find things for themselves. It alludes to thumb rules, which individuals use to settle on choices in dubious and muddled circumstances (SCHINDLER, 2007: p86). As a general rule, the dynamic measures of financial specialists are not totally sensible. This might be so in any event, when the financial specialists have assembled the fundamental data and deliberately explored, in which the passionate and mental perspectives are involved. They are difficult to recognize. In spite of the fact that it might be useful some of the time, various occasions it might cause ignorant choice results. To begin with, it incorporates representativ eness. The ongoing achievements of financial specialists will in general continue into the future (POMPIAN, 2012: p82). The inclination of speculators to concoct choices dependent on history encounters is called generalization. Ongoing investigations are inclining towards the disappointment or achievement, in their benefit projections, the idea of generalization decisions. Furthermore, arrogance is another factor. A few purposes of perspectives encompass certainty, as it concurs more mental fortitude and is seen as a key to success. Despite the fact that, topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3862078009793499097.post-58042089108207360822020-08-22T00:39:00.001-07:002020-08-22T00:39:33.017-07:00Moksha and SalvationSince the fall of man and the appearance of wrongdoing, a wedge was put among God and man. Man has strived to set up a reconnection with God through an assortment of sources. Salvation is the source or extension that associates man to God. Each religion has its own way of thinking concerning the way of salvation. ââ¬Å"The objective of most Indian religions is to break the pattern of karma and samsara and be liberated from the weight of life. This breaking of life is called Mokshaâ⬠(Hopfe and Woodard, 2009, [pg. 85]). Moksha is the Hindu expression utilized which frees the spirit from karma . This freedom can be experienced through death or while one is yet living. In watching the Hindu idea of salvation in contrast with Christianity, there are a few likenesses just as contrasts. It is the Hindu conviction that salvation, alluded to as Moksha ââ¬Å"can be gotten through three ways: information (inana), dedication (bhakti), ceremonial works or karmaâ⬠(McDowell and Stewart, 2006). These are the three ideas that outline the distinctions and similitudes in the two religions of how salvation can be achieved. In watching the similitudes, the principal comparability is the hypothesis that salvation can be accomplished through information. This sort of information is profound. In Hinduism it is accepted that ââ¬Å"Humans essential issue isn't underhandedness yet numbness. Individuals are uninformed about the genuine idea of the real world and accept that they are isolated from Brahmanâ⬠(Hope& Woodard, 2009, [pg. 105]). In the Hindu society, it is just when Moksha is gotten that one can see life from an unmistakable viewpoint. As indicated by Upanishads, ââ¬Å"When genuine information on the hallucination of life is acknowledged, one can be liberated from the servitude of life and accomplish solidarity with Brahmanâ⬠(Hope& Woodard, 2009, [pg. 89]). Interestingly, in Christianity Satan is alluded to as a liar and a backstabber. It is his obligation to misshape the brains of Godââ¬â¢s kids and cause them to lose focal point of their awesome reason on the earth. He makes the hallucination that that there is no Hell nor is there a God. In this way, a large number of Godââ¬â¢s individuals keep on living ruinous ways of life as though they will live for eternity. The second closeness that both Christianity and Hinduism share is the conviction that its freedom can't be found in natural things. Adherents of the two religions are tested to ignore natural things and regard great things. In a world that is so brimming with detest, enduring, setback and disaster; individuals are on frantically looking to fill some sort of void. From a Hindu point of view, ââ¬Å"Humans don't perceive the Brahman yet rather attempt to stick to the objects of life-which resemble illusions they get slipping far from our graspâ⬠(Hopfe &Woodard, 2009, [pg. 05]. Numerous Christians wind up tormented with a similar issue; they start to pursue the things of the world as opposed to the things of God. Concerning material things Griffiths states, ââ¬Å"There are four parts of the bargains, (kama), riches (artha), obligation (dharma) and freedom. The cutting edge world perceived the initial three however has dismissed the last, yet without this objective of conclusive freedom, of extreme amazing quality, the various objectives lead to disappointment. â⬠¦. (Griffiths, 1982, pg. [66]). It is just when one goes to the acknowledgment that the world and it should simply offer transitory, and canââ¬â¢t bring genuine satisfaction; will they at that point place their needs on things unceasing. Despite the fact that the similitudes of salvation are very comparative, when looking at the two religions; there are additionally some significant contrasts. One of the significant contrasts between how the two religions see salvation is that Hinduism trains that salvation must be earned. The hypothesis ââ¬Å"what goes around, comes around is the thing that the religion is revolved around. Through karma, or doing beneficial things; one can either pick up salvation or departure resurrection. Notwithstanding, Christianity encourages that the entirety of our works are much the same as dingy clothes. In Christianity it is instructed that salvation is given through beauty. Ephesians 2: 8-9 says, ââ¬Å"For it is by effortlessness you have been spared, through confidence and not this from yourselves, it is the endowment of God-not by works, so nobody can boastâ⬠(NIV, 2007, Ephesians 2:8-9). The most significant contrast is that that Hinduism perceives no single way to picking up salvation As expressed already, ââ¬Å"Moksha can be gotten through three ways: information (inana), commitment (bhakti), ceremonial works or karma (McDowell and Stewart, 2006). Another technique for achieving opportunity is through the activity of Yoga. Through different Yoga practices one looks to interface with Brahman. Conversely, the way to salvation in Christianity requires one straightforward admission; this admission is found in Romans 10:9: ââ¬Å"That in the event that you admit ith your mouth ââ¬Å"Jesus is Lordâ⬠and trust in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be savedâ⬠(NIV, 2007, Romans 10:9). Jesus Christ is the best approach to salvation none can achieve it some other way, for He stated, ââ¬Å"I am the way, reality and the lifeâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (NIV, 2007, John 14:6). In rundown, the way to salvation is looked for in different manners through both Hi nduism and Christianity. Every person in these religions are in look for something that they understand the world canââ¬â¢t offer. It is just when one comprehends this basic idea that the way to opportunity starts. topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3862078009793499097.post-9110677052297839382020-07-17T21:52:00.001-07:002020-07-17T21:52:02.457-07:00Know Money, Win Money! Introduction Apple Inc. was established by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne in 1976. In the summer of 1976, Ronald Wayne had left the company, but Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak launched the first of many trendsetting products to be developed and released, Apple 1 Computer. While under John Sculleys leadership, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak left Apple in 1985. However, Steve Jobs returned in 1997 and became CEO, taking control of Apple Inc. and bringing the company back from near bankruptcy to profitability by 1998. Under the legendary leadership of the late Steve Jobs, the Apple Inc. brand was successfully rebuilt and become one of the most innovative companies in the world today and has a large loyal customer base. Just after Steve Jobs returned, Tim Cook (a world-renowned supply chain expert) joined Apple Inc. in 1998, who helped transform Apple Inc.s messy operations into a global supply chain success and credited with streamlining Apples supply chain, helping create the most powerful supply chain in the world. Apple Inc. is one of the world leaders in innovation today, product design and development, marketing and branding, software ecosystems, products and services. It sells products through its retail stores, online stores, direct sales force, third-party cellular network carriers, wholesalers, and retailers. It also sells digital content and apps through the iTunes Store. Apple Inc. has evolved into the Most Valuable Brand in the world today. The Differences set Apple Inc. Apart From its Competitors There are several main aspects set Apple Inc. apart from its competitors (see as below): AppleCompetitors Adopting Air-Freight as a more efficient methodAdopting cheaper transportation methods such as Sea-Freight Adopting Intermediate Warehouse at Fedex and UPS for reducing customers waiting time. N/A Keeping the close relationship with global suppliers. Strictly treating suppliers, and attempting to reduce their price Maintaining Just-in-Time supply chain. Focusing on cost and selecting the lowest price suppliers. Apple Inc.s Key Advantages in Manages its Supply Chain Operations Real-time coordination of supply chain Comparing to the life-cycle of traditional product which spans over four to five years, iPhone as an innovative product, Apple Inc.s management team kept the lifecycle closer to only one year on average. For supporting the short product development cycle, Apple Inc. adopts a Just-in-time supply chain to coordinate with the production on a real-time basis. Controlling internally the entire supply chain For developing new products, many stakeholders are involved in the processes of development. Apple Inc. typically handles much of the engineering works involved in getting a product made in large numbers by partnering with contract manufacturers. Engineers often spend weeks at facilities in Asia to make sure the equipment and spare parts are properly operating. With data sharing, Apple Inc.s procurement team also keep closely controlling its upstream suppliers. Unlike other competitors simply outsource the manufacturing to the third-party service providers, Apple Inc. would rather internally control its entire supply chain. The close relationship with suppliers Apple Inc. closely works and builds a close relationship with the contract manufacturers. Its designers closely work with suppliers for helping translate prototypes into mass-produced devices. Furthermore, Apple Inc. continually shares its demand forecasting information to suppliers starting from 150 days in advance of the product launch for allowing adjustment in production schedules and meet the sudden spikes in orders. A well-known example is that within 96 hours, Foxconn produced over 10,000 iPhones a day because of the Apples redesign of screens at the last minute. Highly integration with centralized Research Development Technology firms commonly separate the Research Development department and separate the profit and loss accountability for each product segment. However, Apple Inc. highly integrated the Research Development department as well as the profit and loss accountability to the entire company. All people within the company are responsible for the products success. Pre-purchased capacity Many competitors used the same components as the key parts from a single supplier, so it is common for the components to be out of stock during overwhelming demand. Apple Inc. then starts to pre-purchase suppliers production capacity for ensuring a steady supply of the key parts from suppliers. Moreover, the pre-purchase strategy also adapts to the logistics arrangement. Apple Inc. found that it is costly for the backlog of orders and hence they start adopting air-freight for transportation while other competitors rely exclusively on shipments by sea-freight. Apple Inc.s pre-purchased is available holiday air-freight for ensuring delivery available during holiday sales rush. This also adds the benefit of shutting out rivals. Global operation Apple Inc. divides its products production in different countries. Some processes of production require labor-intensive operation with complex quality control processes. Other countries can provide resources that the U.S is limited. An estimation from Apple Inc. for manufacturing iPhone reviewed which China took fifteen days to find qualified industrial engineers while in the U.S may take as long as nine months. Lightly investing on fixed cost According to Apple Inc.s financial report, asset and inventorys return is high. This has resulted from the lightly fixed cost investment strategy. As low fixed cost need to spread over a high volume, the manufacturing cost of Apple Inc. account larger portion on variable cost. Apple Inc. strategically emphasizes on variable cost which only goes up when sales volume increase. Apple Inc. uses third-parties logistics services and outsources its production for achieving light assets investment. Forward Integration Despite adopting retail partners to distribute its products, Apple Inc. also operates its own stores in high-traffic location as well as the online stores. Over 70% of products and services are sold directly to businesses and consumers by Apple Inc. itself. The limited products configuration Apple Inc.s products are famous for its limited configuration. It restricted the design and configurations of its products, and iOS is designed with less customization setting to provide a more user-friendly experience. With the limited number of configurations, Apple Inc. can streamline the process of the supply chain. Effective reverse logistics function Apple Inc. developed an effective reverse logistic function for enhancing customers post-purchase experience. Consumers are allowed to input the defects online and the system would automatically retrieve purchase information by the serial number. Apple Inc. provides responsive service for product return by sending pre-addressed, pre-stamped box sent through express parcel service to collect the defective product. Apple Inc.s reverse logistic function greatly improved customer satisfaction, lowered the number of calls to its technical support service and eliminate the likelihood of customer error when processing a return. Intense customer education Apple Inc. operates self-own retail outlets not only capture more sales but relies heavily on its retail stores for providing customer education. Apple Inc. gives product training and educates customers on their product usage. 12.Emphasizing brand management Apple Inc. business model focuses on innovation and new product development. With various marketing strategies and customer education, Apple Inc. advertises the lifestyle it created other than the actual functionality of its products. This helps to create a strong brand loyalty. The Challenges Apple Inc. Faces in the Future the Implications for it Supply Chain Developing the overwhelming new products In recent years, Apple Inc. is having a difficult time to develop overwhelming new products. It has been putting a lot of effort to improve and integrate its existing products such as iPhones, Mac Books, iPads, Apple Watches etc. Apple Inc. has been innovating its products and fittings for every version, but the market has the higher expectation than simply a slight improvement on the internal configuration of its products. The consumers or users are expecting technological breakthrough new major products. Apart from this, the sales growth is slowing down, and the declining rate is high until the next model has been ready. This indicates that the consumers or users have gradually lost interests in Apple Inc.s product. The implication for Apple Inc.s Supply Chain The products of Apple Inc. have been known for making by assembling numerous components produced by a lot of different suppliers. Developing new products implicates a large sum of new components are required in its production which makes Apple Inc.s supply chain network more extensive and its management more complex. Apple Inc. also needs to invest more in its research and development and reverse logistics system. Therefore, Apple Inc. can do better in product management and address the new or latent demand for their consumers by reviewing the old returned products. Apart from this, Apple Inc. can introduce the new customized products or new features also for existing products which give the market a new surprise. Keeping sustainable relationships with existing or new suppliers Apple Inc. will be facing a challenge in keeping sustainable relationships with existing or new suppliers. Apple Inc. secures its components supply for meeting the high demand in the market by buying a large volume of components from its suppliers with a huge amount of pre-payment. The largely committed manufacturing capacity which occupied a large part of the businesses of its suppliers. This leads suppliers to receive orders from other customers with difficulty. Therefore, suppliers have been dependent on Apple Inc. for earning profits. Suppliers also have high pressure to get components done with Just-In-Time manufacturing in prepayment. Realizing slim profit gain from Apple Inc. orders with the above disadvantages, Apple Inc.s existing or potential suppliers tend to change their attitudes and some even consider declining Apple Inc. orders for maintaining their independence. The case also mentioned a key part manufac turing refused huge prepayment from Apple Inc. for providing largely committed manufacturing capacity. The implication for Apple Inc.s Supply Chain As some suppliers stop renewing the contract with Apple Inc. because of all the cooperation shortcoming and hardship. Therefore, Apple Inc. has to spend extra money on searching and scanning for new suitable suppliers. The potential suppliers might also hang back when realizing the drawbacks to receive orders from Apple Inc., which decreases Apple Inc.s choices on choosing suppliers. Therefore, Apple Inc. might need to offer a higher pre-payment or new payment methods for suppliers in producing unique components for its products. This might lead to higher production cost and affect the supply chains total profitability. Maintaining the reputation Apple Inc. has been accused of co-operating with sweatshops in its upstream supply chain because of its just-in-time manufacturing and sudden orders or change requirements, the assembler or manufacturer serve Apple Inc. might require their workers to work overtime for meeting the needs of Apple Inc. The case mentioned that workers had to continuously work twelve hours or Foxconns workers had been required to wake up at midnight for work. The implication for Apple Inc.s Supply Chain These ethical issues make Apple Inc.s reputation as it does not have strict monitoring on their partners for producing products. The workers might strike for fighting better benefits and compensations by long-term exploitation. This will lead to production disruption and affect Apple Incs just-in-time manufacturing with a tight schedule. This might increase both cost and the lead time for products. Staying as the market leader in the aggressive competition In recent years, the smartphone industry has rapidly been developing, many competitors catch with innovation at a fast speed (such as Huawei, Samsung, etc.). It is important for Apple Inc. to keep its first-mover advantage and keep putting efforts in innovating. Those who use Android phones have dramatically increased. According to the report presented by IDC in November 2016, the market share of Android phones has occupied nearly 85%, but the iOS phone has only occupied nearly 15%. As consumers have easily shifted to other brands under the market with aggressive competition, therefore, Apple Inc. has to put more efforts to keep its position as the market leader. The implication for Apple Inc.s Supply Chain Apple Inc. has to invest heavily in research and development of its products in its supply chain and places a good balance on stock and production for dealing with the impacts brought by the greater demand fluctuation on i ts JIT system. Apart from this, Apple Inc. also needs to consider the market segmentation that it not only produces high-end products but also low-end products in order to meet the customers needs. As the market for the smartphone has been mature, smartphone producers not only compete on innovation but cost as well. Apart from these, the cost of production and selling price of iPhones has generally been higher than competitors, therefore, squeezing cost will be a big challenge for Apple Inc. The implication for Apples Supply Chain When there is a need for cutting cost, it implicates that there is a need to cut procurement cost and streamline processes. Therefore, it is necessary for Apple Inc. to improve its supply chain organization to minimize cost. For further reducing the cost of ordering and transportation, it is necessary for Apple Inc. to regularly review its procurement strategies and transportation model. Conclusions Recommendations As Jessica Grant, I would suggest the companys vice-president Philip Duchene that Apple Inc. could adjust the shareholding depends on certain factors which could be Apple Inc.s niche product offerings with a huge market share and its stron g brand name due to the increased investment. For the factors of decreasing investment, they could be the uncertain development of new key products, unstable relationship with its manufacturer and fluctuating costs. In the strong brand name, Apple Inc. keeps offering consumers the superior quality of buying experience in retail stores. The experienced talents in stores can provide quality services and knowledge to consumers. Furthermore, Apple Inc.s services after selling can increase customers loyalty. For the China market, Apple Inc.s products increased by the demographic demand. Apple Inc. can save the costs of production and achieve better profits by locating the factories in China. Although there is uncertainty for developing new product lines, Apple Inc is the market leader in terms of research and development. Therefore, it is worth for BXE to invest more in Apple Inc. For BXE to decrease concerns of shareholding, Apple Inc.s intention to capture a wider target market segment. Apple Inc. respectively introduced iPhone 5C and iPhone SE in 2013 and 2016. These lower prices products attracted more customers who have a limited budget. Although Apple Inc. does not have distinct competitive adv antages in the economic smartphone market when comparing with Xiaom, some magazines or reports in the market about smartphones show that the ratings of iPhone SE were mostly similar or worse than Xiaomis Redmi Note 3. Thus, BXE might need to consider about it when adjusting the portfolio in investment. Bibliography Apple Inc.: Managing A Global Supply Chain (2017), Published by Ivey, 9B13D005. Intersectionality is the study of identity that looks at how different aspects of identity intersect with each other to form specific and differing experiences of oppression. Zora Neale Hurston deals with the intersection of race and gender through the story of Janie in Their Eyes Were Watching God. However, rather than seeing the way in which Hurston deals with this intersection, the author Richard Wright claims, ââ¬Å"The sensory sweep of her novel carries no theme, no message, no thought. In the main, her novel is not addressed to the Negro, but to a white audience whose chauvinistic tastes she knows how to satisfy.â⬠While Wright is correct in suggesting that Hurstonââ¬â¢s focus is not on race, but rather gender, he is incorrect in suggesting her novel has no purpose and is created simply to be entertainment for white readers. Wrightââ¬â¢s own writing focuses entirely on race through a sociological lens that uses womenââ¬â¢s dead bodies as objects in order to make arguments about race, and this is why Wright is unable to see the value of Hurstonââ¬â¢s novel which focuses heavily on gendered oppression. Sexual Harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors or other verbal or physical conduct that is of a sexual nature. We will write a custom essay sample on Sexual Harassment in Global Human Resource Management or any similar topic only for you Order Now ââ¬Å"Women bring about 85 percent of all sexual harassment charges (Scarborough Zimmerer, 2006). â⬠ââ¬Å"A recent study found that retaliation claims occur in 47 percent of sexual harassment cases (Scarborough Zimmerer, 2006). Following are a few items that constitute sexual harassment: submitting to or rejecting conduct is an explicit or implicit term or condition of employment; submitting to or rejecting the conduct is a basis for employment decisions affecting the individual; the conduct unreasonably interferes with an individuals work performance or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment (Fisher, Schoenfeldt, Shaw, 1999). In the past, the things that constituted sexual harassment were very vague. Due to this, when attorneys were in pursuit of their evidence, they had to be very aggressive. The behaviors associated with sexual harassment include threats or coercion which are linked to tangible job benefits and/ or those which involve unwanted gestures, unwanted touching or physical contact (Backstrom McDonald, 2008). â⬠Looking at sexual harassment globally, cultures differ in the type of behavior that is acceptable between the sexes and there seems to be considerable possibility of misunderstanding when employees of diverse cultures and genders meet in the workplace (Hardman, Heidelberg and Talbot, 1996). Behavior that Americans consider unacceptable is likely to occur in countries where the sexes are not equal under the law in society (Hardman et al. , 1996). â⬠There are just a few countries that have laws against sexual harassment. ââ¬Å"As of 1992, only Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, and the United States had regulations in place (Hardman et al. , 1996). â⬠ââ¬Å"One of the things mitigating the workplace approach to harassment in Germany was the structure of labor relations (Dobbin, 2006). ââ¬Å"There the industrial relations system was collaborative rat her than top-down, which meant that directives have to be worked out at the level of workplace Works Council (Dobbins, 2006). â⬠In Americaââ¬â¢s legal system, companies banned flirting and office romance because they were concerned about the courts banning them. ââ¬Å"The French saw excessive Puritanism in the American approach, and so French feminists first won a law with a limited definition of harassment as abuse of power by someone in an official capacity (Dobbins, 2006)â⬠. France made a 2002 revision of the law that made sexual harassment equal to moral harassment and violence, but they didnââ¬â¢t do it by inheriting American ideas. France separated harassment from Puritanism and then connected it with other types of psychological violence. ââ¬Å"Employees in Germany and Italy do not necessarily have to have cause to fire employees who engage in sexual harassment, even if employees violate company policy (Maatman, 2000). â⬠ââ¬Å"Employers who terminate harassers may be forced to pay them termination indemnities (Maatman, 2000). ââ¬Å"In Spain and Thailand, labor law concepts based on termination indemnity provisions allow employees to terminate their employment relationships due to sexual harassment. In turn, termination indemnity laws require employers to pay employees substantial severance pay if the cause of their termination is sexual harassment (Maatman, 2000). â⬠ââ¬Å"Venezuelan law prohibits sexual harassment by virtue of enac tment of the Law on Violence against Women and Family. The new law establishes the crime of sexual harassment, as well as penalties for its violation (Maatman, 2000). The crime that someone might serve for sexual harassment is three to 12 months in prison. Also, the offender has to pay the victim double the amount of accumulative damage that caused the sexual harassment along with access to positions and promotions. Employers are held responsible for monetary penalties; individual supervisors could go to jail. ââ¬Å"Executives are potentially liable, and the company may have to cover a harasserââ¬â¢s costs (Maatman, 2000). â⬠ââ¬Å"The mandatory termination indemnity laws of many foreign countriesââ¬âas well as the potential for steep fines and even jail terms for employees who cross he lineââ¬âshould give employers entering the international arena some pause. Businesses that establish offices overseas can face extensive liability exposure for ill-advised personnel decisions and unsound loss-control protocols (Maatman, 2000). ââ¬Å"Sound implementation of personnel policies and practices aimed at combating sexual harassment can help minimize these risks. Proactive HR administration can preserve corporate reputation and brand image, enhance recruiting and retention of a competitive workforce and avoid violation of international sexual harassment laws (Maatman, 2000). To reduce incidents, companies should brief expatriates on regulations in regards to male and female behavior at work. When harassment takes place in an overseas establishment, it is less clear whose standards should apply ââ¬â those of the host country or those of the home country (Hardman et al. , 1996). ââ¬Å"If freedom from unwanted sexual advances or overtly discriminatory behavior is considered a universal human right, then firms should protect this right in their operations worldwide (Hardman et al. , 1996). â⬠ââ¬Å"U. S. ased corporations must be aware that their American employees have the statutory right to sue for this discrimination occurring throughout the world (Maatman, 2000). â⬠ââ¬Å"Applicants, workers and terminated employees who are U. S. citizens and are subjected to discriminatory practices anywhere in the world may file a discrimination charge against their U. S. employers (Maatman, 2000). â⬠There is no easy answer to the problem of sexu al harassment and the misunderstanding that can occur across many different cultures. There are two types of sexual harassment that are recognized by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the courts (Philips, 1997). They are as follows: Quid Pro quo and hostile environment sexual harassment. Quid Pro quo (this for that) happens when an employee makes it clear to a manager or supervisor that his or her sexual demands are unwanted and as a result of that loses an economic benefit, such as employment, an increase in salary or employment. Only managers and supervisors, not coworkers, can engage in quid pro quo harassment (Scarborough Zimmerer, 2006). A hostile environment sexual harassment is a sexual discrimination and the harassment must be harsh enough to alter the victimââ¬â¢s employment conditions and create an abusive work area. A hostile environment usually requires a pattern of offensive sexual behavior rather than a single, isolated remark or display (Scarborough Zimmerer, 2006). ââ¬Å"Most sexual harassment charges arise from claims of a hostile environment (Scarborough Zimmerer, 2006). â⬠ââ¬Å"Some experts believe male-dominated workplaces are likely to be the most hostile to women (Zwettler, 1997). Management can enforce a policy against sexual harassment. This policy should first, clearly define what behaviors constitute sexual harassment, secondly, State in clear language that harassment will not be tolerated in the workplace, thirdly, identify the responsibilities of supervisors and employees in preventing harassment and lastly, spell out steps to take in reporting an incident of sexual harassment (Sca rbourough and Zimmerer, 2006). The effects of sexual harassment differ from person to person. It depends on how severe and how long the harassment went on. Victims of severe or chronic sexual harassment can suffer the same mental effects as someone who has been raped. Some of the health and psychological effects of sexual harassment are relocating to another city, another job, or another school, loss of career, absenteeism, and stress in relationships, decreasing work and school performance, guilt, headaches, feeling violated, eating disorders, having angry feelings towards the harasser and many more. In summary, some things you need to remember if you are being harassed is donââ¬â¢t quit your job, act quickly, get support from your coworkers, ridicule the harasser, use your union grievance procedures, notify the company, keep a diary, and find other victims (Moore White, 1997). Preventing sexual harassment is the best solution, and the key to prevention is educating employees about what constitutes sexual harassment (Scarbourough and Zimmerer, 2006). Training programs are designed to raise employeesââ¬â¢ awareness of what might be offensive to other workers and how to avoid sexual harassment altogether (Scarbourough and Zimmerer, 2006). MTV is a television station that is hip and trendy, while it still covers the main issues of today's society. MTV is known for its flamboyance, the host/hostess are dressed very trendy, the guest are famous and rich, and the shows are informative but not to serious. PBS on the other hand is a station that has all the things that MTV offers but uses subtle antics. While MTV uses it flamboyance for recognition, PBS uses its low-key profile that mainly focused on family and education. The broadcasting of MTV and PBS informs the public of various issues concerning the news, politics, education, and is also a source of entertainment PBS is devoted to the education of adults and children. Its has a wide range of shows that are for education and the topics are interesting. In which PBS has used for their advantage to gain popularity. The shows are different each week, PBS only has a few sitcoms that air weekly. Most of the free airtime is used for shows that are educational but interesting. The shows have topics that deal with animals, wars, the growing of flowers, cars, childcare etc. The topics are unlimited and that is what keeps people watching PBS you never really know what youre going to see. On the weekends PBS has a program called Austin City Limits. A lot of famous bands/singers perform on this show. The bands are usually made up of 5 or 6 people, which makes the atmosphere less like a concert. With the band being smaller it makes the vocals of the lead singer stand out. The audience is made up of 50 people or more with a crowd so small you rarely hear a noises. PBS includes everyone in their programming especially the children, the shows are usually educational and entertaining at the same time. They have a show that teaches the children how to read but at the same time they learn to sing a new song. All across the United States people talk about politics non-stop. Politics have been going on forever some talk about it and some over look it. PBS has many politicians that come and talk about their beliefs on the government and the effects of it on economy. They talk about the downfall of the government or how proud they are about their government. Usually around the time of elections PBS airs shows with the two candidates debating on each others. Sometimes it gets heated and you see the look of discuss on their faces. When watching the debates it makes you think about the candidates beliefs and choices before you vote. In the evening time you can turn to PBS and watch the news. The news is interesting but it doesnt use all the high tech graphics that most big networks do. The announcer talks about all the issues across the world. They tell the news and at the end of the broadcast they tell weather and some of the upcoming shows on PBS. They rarely talk about sports usually about once a week they speak of a recognized sporting event. MTV is a television station that is mostly for entertainment but when they view other shows they are everything you could want and more. The educational shows are mainly about sex, drugs, and dysfunctional families. The stories are usually about one person and how they life their life while dealing with addictions and a bad family life. You often look at the people on the show and you automatically think how easily that could be you. Other times the shows are about raising a child and being single. The show makes you look at like in all perspectives. The main theme of MTV is music and entertainment. It is a ongoing party that has bands from all across the world. The channel is devoted to teen bands and rock groups. They show bands live in concert in another country. They also have fashion shows at the beach. Many of the wedding customs used now originated during the Elizabethan period. In Elizabethan times a woman, if at all, had very little say in whom she was married to. Often the bride and groom would not meet until their wedding day. Elizabethan weddings were almost opposite compared to now. Elizabethan weddings were mainly used to strengthen social position. They were generally a business and brides did not get to choose who they were married to. They are quite different compared to now and were not at all based on love or having a family. Weddings were also used to increase farm size. Their weddings were quite remarkable. Many now used customs originated in the Elizabethan period. Elizabethan weddings also used some customs that are not used now. For example, dowries were to be given to the husband. A dowry could be anything from property to money to cattle. The woman to be married became property of the man. The woman had very little say in who she was married to. It was often common to meet the new partner for the first time on the wedding day. Although it is a feature of Elizabethan weddings it tended to happen more of children from the nobility and upper classes. If they were lucky, a small painted picture would be sent over for approval. If they didnââ¬â¢t approve I am sure they would still have to be married to them anyway. So in conclusion weddings differ over time. Wedding still are also very solemn events at the church. We also have bachelor parties and bridal showers similar to how they did. A wedding was viewed as the most important day in your life. Elizabethan times were similar yet very different because of the customs. topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3862078009793499097.post-71068371781283303932020-03-02T02:16:00.001-08:002020-03-02T02:16:02.083-08:00Divisibility Tricks and How to Divide in Your HeadDivisibility Tricks and How to Divide in Your Head A great way to enhance student learning in mathematics is to use tricks. Luckily, if you are teaching division, there are a lot of math tricks to choose from. Dividing by 2 All even numbers are divisible by 2. E.g., all numbers ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8. Dividing by 3 Add up all the digits in the number.Find out what the sum is. If the sum is divisible by 3, so is the number. For example: 12123 (121239) 9 is divisible by 3, therefore 12123 is too! Dividing by 4 Are the last two digits in your number divisible by 4?If so, the number is too!For example: 358912 ends in 12 which is divisible by 4, and so is 358912. Dividing by 5 Numbers ending in 5 or 0 are always divisible by 5. Dividing by 6 If the number is divisible by 2 and 3, it is also divisible by 6. Dividing by 7 First Test: Take the last digit in a number.Double and subtract the last digit in your number from the rest of the digits.Repeat the process for larger numbers.Example: Take 357. Double the 7 to get 14. Subtract 14 from 35 to get 21, which is divisible by 7, and we can now say that 357 is divisible by 7. Second Test: Take the number and multiply each digit beginning on the right-hand side (ones) by 1, 3, 2, 6, 4, 5. Repeat this sequence as necessary.Add the products. If the sum is divisible by 7, so is your number.Example: Is 2016 divisible by 7?6(1) 1(3) 0(2) 2(6) 2121 is divisible by 7, and we can now say that 2016 is also divisible by 7. Dividing by 8 This ones not as easy. If the last 3 digits are divisible by 8, so is the entire number.Example: 6008. The last 3 digits are divisible by 8, meaning 6008 is as well. Dividing by 9 Almost the same rule and dividing by 3. Add up all the digits in the number.Find out what the sum is. If the sum is divisible by 9, so is the number. For example: 43785 (4378527) 27 is divisible by 9, therefore 43785 is too! Dividing by 10 If the number ends in a 0, it is divisible by 10. topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3862078009793499097.post-29174508524243162402020-02-14T17:40:00.001-08:002020-02-14T17:40:03.390-08:00How would scholarship funds help you Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 wordsHow would scholarship funds help you - Essay Example But more than getting good grades, I will become a better nurse with a help with a scholarship fund because I have focused on my studies when I was still in school. A system is developed that assists in coordination between pharmaceutical manufacturers and procurement agents. The system ensures cost-effectiveness and transparency in the shipment, procurement and drugs delivery. The local government develops capacities including warehousing, distribution and delivery of the drugs to patients. So as to reduce the amount of inventory being held, the just in time (JIT) approach is used and it ensures problems do not come up because of managing large inventories. Inventory management is important in the reduction of the cost of running the supply chain. The malaria supply chain faces a number of challenges in its operation ranging from missing coordination, Inventory management, expiration of drugs due to delays and order management problems. The above mentioned operational challenges facing the supply chain are costly. So as to eliminate or reduce this cost, emphasis must on the implementation of a strategic cost management. It enables the carrying out of cost analysis techniques. The strategy should be focused at standardization of supplies, reduction of inventory, centralized purchasing, and labor automation (Turney, topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3862078009793499097.post-79930369530189690912020-01-24T19:33:00.001-08:002020-01-24T19:33:04.039-08:00The Democratic Symbol Essay -- Politics Government Symbolism EssaysThe Democratic Symbol The word ââ¬Å"donkeyâ⬠has come to have a negative connotation in todayââ¬â¢s society. In Websterââ¬â¢s Handy College Dictionary, the definition for a donkey is ââ¬Å"an assâ⬠or ââ¬Å"a stupid or obstinate personâ⬠. One would presume that with such a meaning, the Democratic Party, one of the main political parties in the United States, would not be associating itself with such a negative symbol. The first use of the ââ¬Å"donkeyâ⬠as the Democratic symbol occurred during Andrew Jacksonââ¬â¢s run for president in 1828. Because of his populist views and the slogan, ââ¬Å"Let the people ruleâ⬠, his opponents tried to label him as a ââ¬Å"jackassâ⬠, but Jackson used the name-calling and turned it into his advantage by placing the donkey on his campaign posters (The Democratic). Since its first application in 1828 the ââ¬Å"donkeyâ⬠is a symbol that is now clearly associated with the Democratic Party. This association is present because the attributes that complement this symbol are some of the many attributes that characterize and define the Democratic Party. Although the masses might view the ââ¬Å"donkeyâ⬠as a representation of something stupid, or silly, the Democratic Party, on the other hand, has come to view the ââ¬Å"donkeyâ⬠as a symbol that stands for intelligence, courage, and humility (The Democratic). One of many important characteristics that define the Democratic Party is its memberââ¬â¢s ability to solve issues that affects the party or the nation in an intelligent manner. This ability came into play on October 29, 1929, at the start of the Great Depression (ââ¬Å"New Dealâ⬠). The inherent instability of the market brought about the Great Depression in 1929, and to resolve this instability, government intervention was necessary t... ...eal.â⬠Wikipedia. 22 Nov. 2004. . The country faces a different set of challenges with non-Mexicans who are caught crossing the border illegally. Mexican illegal immigrants are initially detained when they are apprehended. The problem is that the detention facilities do not have enough room for accommodation. As a result, about four of every five non-Mexican illegal immigrants that are caught are released in society and asked to return for a court date. When the date arrives, about 75 percent of those released do not show up at the court. In 2004, only 30,000 of the 160,000 non-Mexicans were sent home for being caught coming across the southwest. (http://www. whitehouse. gov/news/releases/2005/11/20051128-7. html) The practice of catch and release had been the governmentââ¬â¢s policy for decades. It was an unwise policy and the government has plans to end it. To help end catch and release, there is need to increase the capacity in the detention facilities. The president signed a legislation supported by members of the Arizona delegation in 2005 to increase the number of beds in detention facilities. One of the most effective tools the government has in this effort is a process called expedited removal. Under expedited removal, non-Mexicans are detailed and placed into streamlined proceedings. It allows the government to deport them at an average of 32 days, almost three times faster than usual. In other words, the government is cutting through bureaucracy. The program was so successful that the defense secretary expanded it al up and down the border. (http://www. whitehouse. gov/news/releases/2005/11/20051128-7. html)Since 2001, the government has hired 1900 new Border patrol agents. The agents are being helped by deployment of technologies. Technology helps an individual have broader reach and more effectiveness. When agents can take advantage of cutting edge equipment like overhead surveillance drones and infrared cameras, they can d o a better job for everyone. In Tucson agents on the ground are directing unmanned aerial technology in the sky, and they are acting rapidly on illegal immigration or illegal activities they may see from the drones.Since these unmanned flights began, agents have intercepted a lot of drugs on the border that otherwise and people that otherwise have made it through. (http://www. whitehouse. gov/news/releases/2005/11/20051128-7. html) US spending on military and police aid to Mexico has more than tripled to $57. 8 million with the hope that it will help protect Americaââ¬â¢s southern flank. The draw down of National Guard troops along the US-Mexican border should be stopped or alternative border security improvements provided because of problems with a high-tech ââ¬Å"virtual fenceâ⬠project.ââ¬Å"Project 28â⬠project, a 28-mile array of radars and surveillance cameras near sasabo, indicate that broad implementation of a ââ¬Å"virtual fenceâ⬠along the nationââ¬â ¢s southern border wonââ¬â¢t happen soon. Project 28 is part of a national plan to secure the US Mexico border with physical barriers and high-tech detention capabilities. (Carl B, 2007) Curbing illegal immigration and security the nearly 2,000 mile, (3,200-kilometer) south western border are hot topics in this US election year. Washington has pledged to complete 67 miles (1,070 kilometers) of new barriers by the close of 2008, despite resistance from landowners and environmentalists.Based on along standing relationship of cooperation and mutual assistance, US customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the General Customs Administration of Mexico (GCAM) have begun the implementation of those action items designed to guarantee the secure and efficient flow of trade between the two nations. (Carl B, 2007) For purposes of developing and implementing initiative identified in the US/Mexico Border Partnership Plan, CBP and GCAM have created special working groups: the Border working Grou p, the Enforcement Working Group and the Technology and Customs Procedures Working Group. These groups have been working on a broad range of initiatives namely; 1. Extending and harmonizing the service hours in coordination with the trade communities, at the entry ports located at the common border. 2. Ensuring the Advanced Passenger Information System in Mexico is implemented. This will help collect and share data concerning air passengers arriving to and departing from United States and Mexico. 3. Deploying gamma ray machines at our railroad crossings. 4. Exchanging core data on every transaction occurring through the common border in an electronic environment.5. testing and implementing new technologies for instance electronic seals 6. Fraudulent trade investigations should be conducted jointly. This has led to significant seizures of undervalued and illegally transshipped goods. 7. Devolving systems to monitor in-transit shipments through our territories. 8. Seizing illegal cash transported by air passengers. (http://www. dhs. gov/xnews/releases/press_release_0137. shtm. ) The Mexican border fence that was approved by President Bush in October 2006 is now complete, but accolades for the project are few and far between. The secure fence Act, which was touted by Republicans as a major border security initiative in the weeks leading up to the 2006, mid-term elections is now viewed by many as a fiasco of the first order. The fence is only two and a half feet high and people argue that it cannot stop illegal immigrants. The Mexican border fence as completed is a roughly 30 inch high barrier built primarily of wooden stakes and chicken wire. Chicken wire could not be provided for the entire length of the fence due to budget constraints. These portions therefore consist only of wooden fence posts driven into the ground roughly every twelve feet with small-hand written in between bearing the words ââ¬Å"security fence). (Carl B, 2007) Governor Janet Napolitano on We dnesday March 08 ordered more National Guardsmen posted at the Mexican border to help stop illegal immigrants and curb related crimes. National Guard troops have worked at the border since 1988, but Napolitano signed and order authorizing commanders to station an unspecified number of additional soldiers there to help federal agents.Once the funding is approved, the troops will monitor crossing points, assist with cargo inspection and operate surveillance cameras, according to the order. About 170 national Guardsmen are already posted at the nationââ¬â¢s busiest illegal entry point, where they assist with communications, fence construction and antidrug efforts. (Carl B, 2007) For the last four years, the crisis at the southern border has not improved. Today, approximately the same number of illegal crossings occurs on the southern border as occurred four years ago. That averages about 5,000 illegal crossing per day and approximately 5 million illegal crossings. In a post 9/11 worl d this is unacceptable. Plague takes three forms: bubonic, pneumonic, and septicemic. Bubonic plague affects the lymph glands, while the pneumonic and septicemic forms affect the lungs and the blood. Today, plague can be prevented by antibiotics and strict public health measures. Three methods of controlling carriers involve sanitizing the environment, educating the public on how to prevent exposure, and using prophylactic antibiotics. ââ¬Å"O happy posterity, who will not experience such abysmal woe and will look upon our testimony as a fable,â⬠wrote the Florentian Renaissanceâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦2 Yersinia pestis belongs to the Enterobacteriaceae, a family of Gram-negative, cocobacillus, rod-shaped bacteria. This anaerobic and intracellular agent (ââ¬Å"CRBNE ââ¬â Plagueâ⬠) of plague primarily affects rodent populations on every continent except Australia. Plague takes three forms, in which Yersinia pestis is the same agent: bubonic, pneumonic, and septicemic. The bubonic plague, through which Yersinia pestis affects the lymph nodes, is transmitted to humans usually by the bite of an infected rodent flea (Kool, J.). This variety is identified by a sudden attack of high fever, chills, general discomfort, muscular pain, severe headache, and most of all, the buboe. The buboe, from which comes ââ¬Å"bubonic,â⬠is a smooth and painful swelling of the lymph glands that takes place mainly in the groin, but can also occur in the armpits or neck. The symptoms appear usually two to five days after exposure to Yersinia pestis. Although it is the least dangerous of the varieties, the bubonic plague constitutes three-fourths of all plague cases. Those affected by bubonic plague have a 1 to 15% mortality rate in treated cases, and a 40-60% mortality rate in untreated cases (ââ¬Å"CRBNE -- Plagueâ⬠). Share about your proposed area of study or research and its relevance to your organization and Singapore I have decided to undertake a study on adult education and continuous training sector in Singapore and showcase the relevance of this study to both my organization and Singapore as a whole. This study will specifically be narrowed down to how lifelong learning, including ongoing training within the labor market, be effectively enabled as well as determine the body that will pay for this as we look forward to 2030 and further examine how this can evolve. The rationale for this study builds on the acknowledgment the current sectoral transformation undergoing in Singapore as they seek workers with relevant skills. This study is, therefore, meant to ensure that this sector stay responsive to the fluctuating needs of the economy together with industries (Ppin 2007). This study will, therefore, remain one of its kind to refresh as well as probably enhance the ongoing education and training system in Singapore. This study will be further aligns to the national skills future movement to keep track with the fluctuating needs of the Singapores rapid-growing economy (Tight 2002). It will help suggest the efficient ways for repositioning the sector for growth, strengthening the systems as well as processes for training providers and speaking to the skills and manpower needs. The study will also help measure if training speaks to the labor force performance outcomes, refreshing the learning infrastructure for innovation support as well as upgrading the skills of educators (Georgellis and Lange 2007). This study is, therefore, to my organization since it will ensure a constant supply of skilled and competent workers that ensure better performance and productivity. Accordingly, the aggregate effect of this is that the first-growing economy of Singapore will meet its fluctuating needs in the labor force and hence increased GDP all year round. The closer the R2 value is to 1 the better it will suit the graph. We will rearrange the equation y= ax2 + bx +c so that we can work out for the terra incognitas which are. the letters a. B and c. To make this. we need to add informations to the equation and make three matrices. In order to go on on. allow us foremost add the known values to the equation. Given y= ax2 + bx +c. we know that the y-values are Chinaââ¬â¢s population in 1000000s and the x-values are the old ages at which the population is measured. We will utilize three points to work out this. one from the beginning. one from the center. and one from the terminal in order to make the matrices that will so be used to happen values for a. b. and degree Celsius. So we take the equation y= ax2 + bx +c and stopper 1950 ( first twelvemonth ) in as the x-value and 554. 8 as the y-value and we will make the same with the following two points that will be used.y= ax2 + bx +c554. 8=a ( 19502 ) + B ( 1950 ) + degree Celsius830. 7=a ( 19702 ) + B ( 1970 ) + degree Celsius1120. 5=a ( 19952 ) + B ( 1995 ) + degree CelsiusNow that we have created our system of equations we can divide them up into matrices. Looking at the equations we have come up with. we notice that we have a column of y-values ( bold ) . a column of x-values ( blue ) . and a column of terra incognitas ( purple ) 554. 8=a ( 19502 ) + B ( 1950 ) + degree Celsius830. 7=a ( 19702 ) + B ( 1970 ) + degree Celsius1120. 5=a ( 19952 ) + B ( 1995 ) + degree Celsius We can name the y-values matrix ââ¬ËBââ¬â¢ or [ B ] which is traveling to be a 3?1 matrix. the x-values matrix ââ¬ËAââ¬â¢ or [ A ] which will be a 3?3 matrix. and the unknowns matrix ââ¬ËCââ¬â¢ or [ C ] which is another 3?1 matrix. [ A ] = [ B ] = [ C ] = So so we get an equation that looks like this: [ B ] = [ A ] * [ C ] . We can split [ A ] from one side of the equation to insulate [ C ] so. [ A ] -1* [ B ] = [ C ] . We multiply by the opposite of [ A ] . Multiplying [ A ] -1* [ B ] we get the [ C ] to be. Year | 1950| 1955| 1960| 1965| 1970| 1975| 1980| 1985| 1990| 1995| New Population in Millions| 554. 8| 620. 8| 688. 8| 758. 7| 830. 7|904. 6| 980. 6| 1058. 6| 1138. 5| 1220. 5| Having plugged the original old ages into the found map we receive the information in the informations tabular array above and acquire a graph that looks like the information is close to the original graph. We are following shown an equation where the population at clip is modeled by: P ( T ) = Using a reckoner we can run a logistical trial on the original informations where we get K to be 1950. L to equal 4. 34. and M to be. 0333. We get the informations tabular array below. Year | 1950| 1955| 1960| 1965| 1970| 1975| 1980| 1985| 1990| 1995| New Population in Millions| 537. 8| 605. 0| 676. 5| 751. 8| 830. 0| 910. 0| 991. 0| 1071. 7| 1151. 1| 1228. 1| The graph created by the logistic map is a really close tantrum. it about covers up the original population graph. Even looking at the informations tabular array for the map. we see that the information is really near to the original set of informations. We know that in multinomial maps. the independent and dependent variables are straight related to each other. In this survey the form of the original informations indicates a uninterrupted gradual slope. so as the old ages increase so will the population. The logistic map is different in the sense that while it will go on to increase. after awhile it will non increase as much and will get down to decelerate down until it stops increasing and degrees off. The graphs below are to assistance in the apprehension of the construct. We are following given a set of informations on the population trends in China from the 2008 World Economic Outlook published from the International Monetary Fund ( IMF ) Year | 1983| 1992| 1997| 2000| 2003| 2005| 2008|New Population in Millions| 1030. 1| 1171. 7| 1236. 3| 1267. 4| 1292. 3| 1307. 6| 1327. 7| We will get down with the multinomial map and once more choose three different points for the above information. So we will acquire: y= ax2 + bx +c 1030. 1=a ( 19832 ) + B ( 1983 ) + degree Celsius1267. 4=a ( 20002 ) + B ( 2000 ) + degree Celsius1327. 7=a ( 20082 ) + B ( 2008 ) + degree Celsius We can name the y-values matrix ââ¬ËBââ¬â¢ or [ B ] which is traveling to be a 3?1 matrix. the x-values matrix ââ¬ËAââ¬â¢ or [ A ] which will be a 3?3 matrix. and the unknowns matrix ââ¬ËCââ¬â¢ or [ C ] which is another 3?1 matrix. [ A ] = [ B ] = [ C ] =We can split [ A ] from one side of the equation to insulate [ C ] so. [ A ] -1* [ B ] = [ C ] . We multiply by the opposite of [ A ] . Multiplying [ A ] -1* [ B ] we get the [ C ] to be. Graphing this we get the graph displayed below which we see looks indistinguishable to the original to the point where we do non even see the original graph. Now we run the 2nd map trial to see how that one besides fits the new informations. Again we have the equation P ( T ) = Using a reckoner we can run a logistical trial on the original informations where we get K to be 1436. L to equal 1. 36. and M to be. 0633. We get the informations tabular array below. Year | 1983| 1992| 1997| 2000| 2003| 2005| 2008|New Population in Millions| 1030. 1| 1171. 7| 1236. 3| 1267. 4| 1292. 3| 1307. 6| 1327. 7| We so take this found information and see how good it fits the original informations that we graphed earlier. As we see the logistic equation fits the original informations absolutely. Now let us see how both graphs expression together when consolidated into one graph. As we see here. the information from both the original graphs and their logistic maps line up rather good about making one uninterrupted line. The theoretical accounts fit each other with no outliers and making one solid line on the graph. The same can be seen with the 2nd graph of the original informations and the original IMF informations and their several multinomial maps. In decision to this mathematical survey. we have found tendency lines to chart informations. created system of equations for that informations and successfully graphed them against their original graphs. We learned how logistic graphs and multinomial graphs work and how they differ from each other. To make another challenge it would be interesting to seek and prove more maps. It would be interesting to prove parametric quantities and see what would go on if we tested outside of them. It would be a challenge to larn how the logistic map works mathematically to bring forth the Numberss it produces on the reckoner. topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3862078009793499097.post-34799379043023012512019-11-25T14:55:00.001-08:002019-11-25T14:55:05.303-08:007 YouTube Channels to Replenish the Stock of Your Essay Writing Music7 YouTube Channels to Replenish the Stock of Your Essay Writing Music 7 YouTube Channels to Replenish the Stock of Your Essay Writing Music Music is a great thing to have when you are working. Music in the background can truly be beneficial for you when writing. The reason for this is that the brain does not actually tell time on a regular basis; it tells time based on the surroundings and environment. It is for this reason that listening to a boring lecture can literally feel as though it made time slow down, or when you are having fun with a loved one, time seems to speed up. Music plays a big part in this. Music can dictate to the brain whether time is going by quickly or slowly. Below is a list of great YouTube channels for music you can enjoy while writing your essay: Study Music Club Relax Channel EnjoyStudying Study Music StudyMusicProject Classical Music Compilation Relaxing Study Music Upbeat music with a fast tempo tells the brain that time is moving quickly. This is a great choice for those evenings where you have been working for hours and you are trying to combat sleepiness. Having happier, uplifting and fast music will make you think the work is going by slowly. This is best reserved for those times when you are handling administrative tasks like printing papers, stapling them together, emailing copies to yourself and your teacher, etcâ⬠¦ Slow, classical music will convince your mind that time is slowing down. This is ideal for when you need to relax and focus solely on your reading or writing. With calming and relaxing music in the background, your mind and subsequently your body will naturally relax. This is a great thing to have in the background as you are reading over multiple texts for research or trying to calmly put together a well-organized paper. It is very important to remember though that music with lyrics will prove distracting. So if you are trying to write a creative paper, you will likely find it harder to do if the music you have playing (slow or fast) has lyrics. The reason for this is that the brain is listening to the lyrics and going back and forth between focusing on the writing and focusing on the lyrics. This causes many distractions and delays. This is exacerbated by songs to which you have memorized lyrics. If you have memorized a song, or have heard it enough to subconsciously memorize it, then your mind will focus on that instead. When you are writing an essay, it is good to have essay writing music to help you stay motivated, but remember that music plays an interesting role in our level of production. So if you want to slow your mind down, pick something that is relaxing. If you want to speed things up and make a list of mundane actions seem interesting, then pick something fast paced. Just remember to avoid the music with lyrics you know quite well or you will end up distracted more often than not. topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3862078009793499097.post-75549156282513194122019-11-21T22:19:00.001-08:002019-11-21T22:19:02.568-08:00History - American Exceptionalism Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 wordsHistory - American Exceptionalism - Term Paper Example From historical facts we find that American exceptionalism was tangled with convoluted and often ambiguous set of assumptions as it is important in explaining how Americans thought and how they have acted. In the opinion of Tyrrell, some historians attribute the terms ââ¬Å"differencesâ⬠or ââ¬Å"uniquenessâ⬠to the exceptionalism; whatever the terminology, the long debated implications of American uniqueness and difference stems from political, intellectual, and even religious heritage, and is enduring. However, it is of equal importance to understand the ââ¬Å"negativeâ⬠version of the phenomenon, which means, the US had been exceptionally bad, racist, violent, with distorting unique American evils. Whether or not these assumptions are logical or coherent, as according to Pease, it is clear that exceptionalism is an idea that has prospered the American society, even though with many ups and downs in its tread (107). However, some historians say that the United Nat ions was never truly imperialistic in any manner, but was rather expansionist. The United States was a nation born through revolution against imperial control, and has been ostensibly disregarding imperialism, in their strategies with other nations and its own. According to an opinion, ââ¬Å"instead of trying to administer other nations or peoples in an imperialistic or colonial fashion, the United States, has been asserted, fashioned itself as the liberator of the colonized, launching both a rhetorical assault on the practice of imperialism and a practical campaign to bring about its endâ⬠(Heiss ,2002, 511). Lipset explains that only in some cases the nation was seen taking control of territory that was not predestined to be included into the nation, and when it did, was for positive reasons, ruling in a liberal and compassionate fashion, providing opportunities for self-government and ultimately independence when seemed practicable. In their opinion, the United States was n ever an imperialist, rather expansionist, practicing benevolent assimilation, closely following its Manifest Destiny. However, some historian points out the darker side too. In the opinion of York, with all positive influences, of Manifest Destiny, filled with a surge of enthusiasm and energy for pushing West, the negative impacts created the belief within that the white men had the right to obliterate anything and anyone. Looking for the roots of Manifest Destiny across the West would point out the mass destruction of tribal organizations, and detention of Indians to reservation, holding high the belief that settlement of the land and civilization of its native were preordained. In the opinion of Walt, perhaps the basic principle of American exceptionalism can be the belief that they always are, and have always been, the good guys, spreading prosperity everywhere they go. He continues that it is a blind-faith that the United States is a uniquely virtuous nation, a nation that uphol ds peace, nurtures liberty, respects human rights, and embraces the rule of law that is so strict. Many hold the view, connecting it with American exceptionalism, that the nationââ¬â¢s values, political structure, and history are exceptional and are universally praiseworthy, which imply them to take a positive and distinctive role in the world stage. The only thing that contradicts this self-sycophantic illustration of the nationââ¬â¢ topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3862078009793499097.post-81417345954393748052019-11-20T17:49:00.001-08:002019-11-20T17:49:05.696-08:00Integrated Case Study Analysis (Prediction markets at Google). The case study actually involves the idea of Bo Cowgill, who is an employee of Google, who joined Google in 2003 after finishing his undergraduate degree in public policy in Stanford. The basic aim of the project was to find improved ways to utilize the huge amount of information, which was at the disposal of the company. Friedrich Hayek and the Iowa Electronic Markets had tried to harness this potential amount but had failed initially to implement this idea. The main problem identified in the employees was the lack of non-monetory motivation. The employees were not interested in earning extra money but wanted to be recognised in the organisation. Thus the HR aspect of Maslowââ¬â¢s Heirarchy of needs can be identified as one of the main issue in this case study. Another issue that cropped up was the high involvement of the employees in the prediction market that hampered the work output of the employees. The report is case analysis based on the prediction market of Google. In the case study, there are several problems related to different domains of management and those have been identified in order to come up with a suitable solution. The different problems identified have been segregated into different parts pertaining to their respective domains such as marketing, finance, human resource, etc. In the end, each of the problems have been analysed in order to find an appropriate solution for each of them. All these solutions have been discussed keeping in mind the success of Google Prediction Markets (GPM) as an effective product for the general public at large. Unlike in GAAP, under IFRS it requires companies to value financial items at fair market value. If the market value of the asset is more than its written down value, it will lead to overestimation that increases the inherent risk (Carcello & Nagy, 2004). Accsys Technologies Plc has revised its accounting reporting standards from GAAP to IFRS for its group as a whole and not for the parent or subsidiary companies. It adopted IFRS 13 and IAS 1 for the current period. IFRS 13 fair value measurement implies that the value of the financial and non financial items will be recorded in the books at market price which includes inventory, assets, investments, etc. The change in reporting standard might exhibit highly geared assets i.e. assets might have a relative low price in the domestic market compared to the value of its final product. Accsys Plc reported a 78% increase in its revenue and the EBITDA margin for its Arnhem plant was â⠬2.4 million compared to a loss of â⠬.9 million in the last fiscal. The resulting difference in the operating income and loss is a key indicator of its reporting mechanism than its increased demand in the global market (Accesys Technologies, 2015). In the current fiscal Accsys discontinued its licensing partnership with Diamond Wood China Ltd and as per the order of the tribunal was supposed to pay à £1.6 million. It also incurred legal costs of à £.6 million. Such transactions did not feature in its annual report of 2014 and thus clearly indicates the risk of misstatement i.e. arising out of error or intentional actions (Khurana & Raman, 2008). Accsys Plc is in the practice of recognising all cost of revenue to the Arnhem manufacturing plant if it cannot be recognised with the licensee. topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3862078009793499097.post-5809646761631309312019-11-16T06:31:00.001-08:002019-11-16T06:31:04.463-08:00Fords Value Enhancement Plan AnalysisFords Value Enhancement Plan Analysis Fords Value Enhancement Plan aims to align the interests of various shareholders by offering them different options the choice of $20 in cash, additional new common shares or a combination of cash and new share. Based on the following analysis, Ford should go ahead with Value Enhancement Plan. Characteristic of VEP The Value Enhancement Plan has the feature of stock split and share repurchase. Exchanging existing shares for new shares on a one-for-one basis, shareholders are also offered the option to reinvest $20 to receive additional new Ford common shares. In this sense, share price would decrease while the number of shares outstanding is going to increase. According to Fords announcement mentioned in the case, shareholders choosing the share option would receive 0.748 new Ford common shares in lieu of $20 cash. So, the effect is similar to 1.748 for 1 stock split. However, not all the shareholders prefer share option. For those who elect cash option, they would receive $20 as though they sell part of their shares, which reflects the feature of share repurchase. Advantages of VEP With the combined feature of stock split and share repurchase, VEP has its strength. In terms of cash option, since there is no good things to do with the massive cash reserve, returning the excessive cash allows shareholders to make profitable investment by themselves. Unlike cash dividend, returned cash is taxed as capital gains, so it generates tax efficiency for shareholders. In addition, though the price of new Ford shares would decrease, shareholders will not bear any loss, because the reduced price is offset by the cash they receive. But from the companys point of view, they can reduce dividend payment. Companies tend to keep dividend payout ratio constant, so dividend for each new Ford share will decrease because share price falls. For those who choose to receive $20 in cash, they keep the same amount of shares before VEP is introduced, therefore, the total dividend payment is going to reduce and to some extent, the pressure for increasing dividend level can be relieved a bit. Moreover, the effect of cash option is similar to that of share buyback, the number of new shares outstanding will reduce; thus, earnings per share will increase and it can increase the overall demand for Fords share, which will benefit share price in the long run. If shareholders elect stock option, they can increase voting power and exercise more control over the company. Also, as we discussed in the cash option, share price will increase, so, shareholders will benefit a lot from holding more new Ford shares. As for the combination of cash and new shares, shareholders can take part of their money out of the stock to make other profitable investment, and they can also maintain their interest in the company. On the one hand, they can enjoy tax efficiency by paying tax of capital gains for cash received, on the other hand, they can enjoy the profit when share price increases and they can have a say in the firm. VEP is better than cash dividend in terms of tax effect, and compared with share repurchase, it meets shareholders need to remain or increase control of the company. Therefore, based on the analysis, Ford should go ahead with VEP. Possible Choices of Different Shareholders Ford family member will choose stock option because they want to expand their control in the firm. By supporting VEP, their 40% voting power remains unchanged but their equity in the firm decreases from 5% to 3.6%. If they elect stock option, they hold more common shares, and their voting power is beyond 40%. Institutional investors, such as TIAA-Cref and the Calpers would choose combination of cash and shares. Its obvious that VEP favors Ford family members and dilutes institutional investors voting power, so its hard for them to compete with Ford family members in terms of control even if they reinvest all the $20 cash to buy new Common shares. In this sense, combination of cash and new share is a better choice for them. They can get part of their investment out of Ford stock for good opportunities somewhere else; meanwhile, they can remain interest in Ford. A regular outsider shareholder doesnt care about voting power. The purpose of their investment is profit. So, if I was one of them, I would go for cash option, because I would think Ford cant find profitable projects and there are few growth opportunities. By getting money back, I can make good use of it by myself. topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3862078009793499097.post-49067398881020048802019-11-13T19:01:00.001-08:002019-11-13T19:01:02.923-08:00DISCRIMINATION Essay -- essays research papers Although I had always thought that I could never be discriminated for any reason, two years ago I felt discriminated. One Friday, while working in a large corporation in the administrative department, the president of the corporation organized a meeting for the administrative and accounting departments. The president of the company mentioned that the accounting department was opening a new position as Junior Controller Management. Moreover, he said that there were only two candidates who were postulated for it. I knew I was one of them. In fact, most of my co-workers started talking about it and all were claiming me as the winner. I was extremely happy. But, I wanted to wait for the real nomination that was going to take place the following Friday after the executive meeting in which each departmentââ¬â¢s director needed to vote either for me or for my co-worker, who was a man older than me. I knew I did not have to worry, so I was extremely relax the entire week. I always loved to work, and I always did a good job, so I thought that the position as a Junior Controller was mine. Unfortunately, it was not true. Although management knew that I was extremely qualified for the position, they could not give it to me for two reasons. The first one is that I was only 22 years old, and they thought that I was too young to handle such a high level position. Second, they told me, men always occupied the highest positions in this company, and even if they understand that life had evolved ... topgenasy1982http://www.blogger.com/profile/02671274539570794779noreply@blogger.com0
